Bates Technical College

Founded in 1940, Bates Technical College is located in Tacoma, Washington, the third largest city in the state, with a population of 200,000. The college has three campuses within the city, and serves more than 9,000 students annually, with 3,000 in full-time career education programs. The college also houses its own PBS-affiliated public television station, KBTC.

Bates is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, and offers high school completion, two-year associate of technology degrees, certificates of competency and training, industry certifications, and, in specific programs, prepares students for the achievement of state licensure. Career education programs are designed to meet the needs of an evolving, global workforce. The college maintains articulation agreements with several four-year universities, making some of the college's two-year degrees transferable, specifically in the areas of business, education, computer science and biotechnology. 

Thirty minutes from Seattle and the state capital, Tacoma is a progressive international city nestled at the foot of Mount Rainier and along the shores of Commencement Bay.
