Verde Valley School is the first college prep boarding school in the U.S. to fully embrace the International Baccalaureate as its only curriculum. The IB is the most respected secondary school diploma at the best U.S. colleges. VVS was founded in 1948 by two Harvard-trained anthropologists. Respect for all cultures has always been part of our DNA. Today, about half of our student body of 120 is comprised of international students from 17 countries. The students benefit from the strong ESL Program at VVS.

We offer a close-knit, family environment, in which almost all of our students board on campus and 90% of our faculty and staff live on campus. Our Sedona location has been called the most beautiful spot in the U.S. and one of the 10 most romantic locales in the world. In addition to rigorous academics, we offer a full range of athletic, fine arts and recreational opportunities.

Academic and Sport Facilities

Twelve classrooms, two science labs, one computer lab, performing arts hall, recording studio and library.

VVS offers an excellent fitness center, climbing wall, mountain bike pump track, equestrian stable, riding ring, basketball court, tennis court, soccer field.

Dormitories and School Residences

Our cozy dorms feature classic SW architecture and common rooms with game areas and televisions. Rooms are double occupancy with every effort made to match students with roommates from different nations than their own.

We have a full-time security officer on campus from 10pm – 5am, 7 days a week.

Location

Sedona has been called the most beautiful tourist destination in the U.S. and one of the six most romantic locales in the world. Its towering Red Rocks are truly unique. Its full-time population of 11,000 triples during peak spring and fall tourist seasons. Sedona is 4,200 feet above sea level and 90 minutes by car north of Phoenix, a major metropolitan area. VVS is operating on a trimester system and can accommodate admission at the 1st, 2nd and third trimesters and also at the mid-year point (starting after Winter Break).

International students should arrive at Phoenix International Airport per schedule where VVS will pick them up and transport them to campus.
